Slaves who built the White House were 'well-fed' says Fox News host Bill O'Reilly

Slaves who built the White House were 'well-fed' says Fox News host Bill O'Reilly

Remember Michelle Obama's emotional Democratic National Convention speech, where she said she wakes up "every day in a house built by slaves"?

Conservative pundit Bill O'Reilly thought that wasn't telling the whole truth.

He said the slaves who worked on the White House were "well-fed" and had "decent lodgings." (That quote starts at 1:03 above.)

He also argues that slaves weren't the only people who built the White House, which Politifact agrees with.

This comment was seen as insensitive by a lot of people.

Many thought he was missing the point of Obama's speech.

What did you think of Bill O'Reilly's slave comments?
