Amazon drone delivery is expanding in the UK, but not over American skies

If you want your Amazon Prime orders delivered by drone, either hop in the time machine or head across the pond.

Amazon is partnering with the British government to get drone delivery up and running, according to a release from the company.

The Civil Aviation Authority in the United Kingdom gave Amazon permission to test flights in non-urban areas and flights where one person controls multiple drones.

It's been notoriously difficult to get Amazon Prime Air going in the United States. New Federal Aviation Authority rules on drones make it hard to test and operate drones for business purposes.

It looks like Amazon will use the UK for a stress test.

"The ground-breaking work will help Amazon and the government understand how drones can be used safely and reliably," the press release reads.

The new drone rules forbid going over 400 feet in the air or flying anything heavier than 55 pounds.
