Former presidential candidate, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.), gave Hillary Clinton's vice presidential running mate a nod of support on CNN Sunday morning.
Sanders said that although he and Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) differ on many policy issues, the Democratic vice presidential candidate is "100 times better" than Donald Trump on his "worst, worst day."
Tim is an extremely bright guy, a very nice guy. Are his political views different than mine? Yes, they are. He is more conservative than I am.
"But compared to Donald Trump, a guy who rejects science, doesn't even believe that climate change is real, let alone that we have to take bold action to transform our energy system, a Donald Trump who wants to give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the top two-tenths of 1 percent, a Donald Trump who goes around the country insulting Mexicans and Latinos and Muslims and women, veterans and African-Americans. Trust me, on his worst, worst, worst day, Tim Kaine is 100 times better than Donald Trump will ever be," Sanders told CNN's Jake Tapper.
The Crooked Hillary V.P. choice is VERY disrespectful to Bernie Sanders and all of his supporters. Just another case of BAD JUDGEMENT by H!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 24, 2016
Sunday Trump posted a series of tweets trying to spark outrage among Sanders' supporters:
Bernie Sanders started off strong, but with the selection of Kaine for V.P., is ending really weak. So much for a movement! TOTAL DISRESPECT— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 24, 2016
Looks like the Bernie people will fight. If not, their BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS was a total waste of time. Kaine stands for opposite!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 24, 2016
In addition to those tweets, USA Today reported that Trump also sent out an email saying how disappointed Sanders' must be with Kaine as Clinton's running mate instead of the senator from Vermont.
