More than a thousand people turned out at a prom in Wisconsin Friday night to celebrate the life of a terminally ill teen who made an emotional decision to die.
Her final wish? To have the prom of a lifetime.
Jerika Bolen, 14, suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, or SMA, an incurable disease she's had since she was eight months old. The disease destroys nerve cells in the brain stem and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle activity.
Earlier this summer she decided in late August she will stop using the ventilator she uses to breathe as she begins hospice care.
