A North Miami police officer has been identified in the shooting of Charles Kinsey.
City officials named Jonathan Aledda as the officer involved in the shooting and said he had been placed on paid administrative leave.
Earlier this week, cellphone video showed how police had shot Kinsey while he was lying on the ground, telling police he didn't have a gun and pleading with them to not shoot.
Kinsey, who is a behavioral therapist and was taking care of an autistic patient at the time of the incident, was shot in the leg multiple times. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for gun shot wounds, but was expected to be released shortly.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation.
