NASA found a big "X" in the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It's made up of stars, and it might hold the key to telling us how galaxies are made.

The shape was first seen after a 2010 sky survey was released, but it was only confirmed in a recent report.
Scientists think this means the galaxy's development was pretty much uninterrupted, since any big disruptions would have distorted the shape.
