Fox News CEO Roger Ailes resigned Thursday amid accusations of sexual harassment by former news anchor Gretchen Carlson and other employees.
Rupert Murdoch will assume the role of chairman and acting CEO of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network effective immediately, according to a release from 21st Century Fox.
"Roger Ailes has made a remarkable contribution to our company and our country," Murdock said in a statement. "Roger shared my vision of a great and independent television organization and executed it brilliantly over 20 great years."
In her lawsuit, Carlson alleges that she was fired for refusing to sleep with Ailes. Since her lawsuit, other women have come forward with similar accusations.
