This barbershop mentorship program bridges the gap between young men and police

The Lynchburg Virginia Police Department is trying to help mold young men into responsible adults through a local program called Badges and Barbers. These boys have been learning the ins and outs of running a small business while being mentored by professionals in the community.

This seven week mentorship program aims to build character and confidence.

The program was created by Sergeant Luke Bryan with LPD. Sergeant Bryan hopes LPD working with local students will inspire them to become leaders in their communities.  Since the program was so successful in its first season, last year's graduates will become mentors to the new wave of young men entering the program.
