Defense Secretary Ash Carter is hosting a joint meeting Wednesday with 30 defense ministers from around the world to discuss plans and options to counter the so-called Islamic State's global expansion, the Pentagon said.
Carter is discussing steps to accelerate the military campaign against ISIS, which has reportedly expanded its global reach from Iraq and Syria to safe havens in North Africa, South Asia and the West, Pentagon officials said.
The defense secretary, along with the other dignitaries, will be holding a press conference at Joint Base Andrews at 1:45 p.m. ET.
