'Right in the mush:' the journey to become a pro wrestler

Jake Gurney, 28, has been an independent professional wrestler for six years, getting paid a little bit of money to hit the road for one-off matches. During the day he works construction. In the ring he goes by Sully J. Sullivan, and this is the biggest opportunity he's had in his wrestling career.

Gurney is trying out for Ring of Honor, the second largest professional wrestling league in the country behind WWE. Making the cut would mean two things: living out his dream, and a steady paycheck from wrestling.

Ring of Honor is owned by the same parent company as Circa, Sinclair Broadcast Group.
