Belarus really loves its American rock bands. It just can't tell them apart.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers were flagged down by custom officials in a Belarus airport --- not for any crimes, but for autographs.
"We tried to explain to them that we weren't Metallica but they insisted that we sign anyway. They had the power."
That's not that unusual. But the officials thought the band was actually Metallica.
RHCP bassist Michael "Flea" Balzary said he tried to explain who he was, but the officials insisted on autographs.
For reference, here's RHCP on the left and Metallica on the right. They don't look that similar.
