NASA said an ultraviolet camera on their telescope photographed the planet's auroras. An aurora is an atmospheric phenomenon that appears as streamers or long, colorful bands of light sometimes visible in the night sky in the northern or southern regions of a planet.

NASA's Juno probe, which is also studying the planet's auroras, is scheduled to enter Jupiter's orbit on July 4th, Independence Day.
