Tony Robbins motivated more than 30 people to walk on hot coals, trip to hospital followed

Every Texan knows to not go outside barefoot in the summer because the pavement will burn your feet. Thursday night, 7,000 people gave up on that idea and even took it a step further, walking across a bed of hot coals.

To no one's surprise, more than 30 people ended up in the hospital.

Those injured were attending an event hosted by motivational speaker Tony Robbins.

Twitter reacted, criticizing the event.

One attendee shared a picture of her injury. Ouch.

Another attendee who made it across the coals told ABC affiliate WFAA that selfies were to blame for the injuries.

From my observation, there was someone in front of us and someone behind us on their cell phone, taking selfies and taking pictures.

One Twitter user pointed out how a casual poolside "hang" can achieve the same effect.
