Hillary Clinton promises to overturn Citizens United in first 30 days of presidency

Hillary Clinton announced on Saturday that she will call for a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision in her first 30 days as president, her campaign said Saturday.

The presumptive Democrat nominee wants to do away with the US Supreme Court's decision that essentially knocked down barriers to the buying of elections by multinational corporations. The 2010 high court ruling paved the way for unlimited corporate, union and individual spending on elections, which Bernie Sanders has spoken vehemently against.

In a statement, campaign officials called overturning the controversial decision a key part of Clinton's plan to "challenge the stranglehold that wealthy interests have over our political system."
