As a Multimedia Journalist, Julia Boccagno covers a wide-variety of general assignment news stories, though she has a particular interest in foreign policy and national security-related issues.
Prior to joining Circa, Julia covered the 2016 presidential election for CBS News as a digital reporter and field producer. But it was her time as a 2015 Pulitzer Center fellow that really allowed her to refine her journalistic skillset. In this capacity, Julia explored the marginalization of the transgender community in Thailand from both a socioeconomic and institutional perspective. Her multimedia reporting took her everywhere from vivacious cabaret shows to pristine surgical operating rooms.
Julia graduated magna cum laude from American University where she pursued a major in Broadcast Journalism and a double minor in International Studies and Italian. She acquired a taste for life’s finer delicacies, like real aceto di balsamico, after enrolling in an Italian university as an exchange student in Modena, Italy.
Don’t underestimate her petite frame. Julia is constantly redefining her physical and mental grit as a competitive triathlete and Half Ironman finisher.
