COPY EDITOR
I've been to — ahem — 21 full Dave Matthews Band shows. And probably more once you've read this.
I hail from rural Madison County in Central Virginia where there are more cows than people. I began my journalism career in high school, writing and editing for the school paper and covering high school football for the hometown paper. I also may or may not have written articles about college football games I played in the EA Sports "NCAA Football" video game series.
I went to UVa and worked at The Cavalier Daily all four years in the sports department, first as a staff writer, then an associate editor, then co-editor of the section and then finally as a columnist. I graduated in 2010 with a degree in psychology and promptly put the degree to work by, of course, landing a job at a newspaper, The News & Advance in Lynchburg, Virginia, as a sports copy editor and page designer. I've also worked in the same roles at The Daily Progress in Charlottesville, Virginia, and most recently at the Richmond Times-Dispatch. After enjoying more than eight lucrative years at newspapers, I decided to leave the comforts of the sports section and began exploring opportunities in digital journalism, landing at Circa.
If you couldn't already tell, I'm a big sports fan: the Wahoos, Cowboys (no, not from Texas, but if I was part of the bandwagon, I would've jumped off a long time ago) and Braves are my teams.
If you make "Seinfeld" references around me, we are instant friends. Giddy up. My second-favorite show is "Breaking Bad." My favorite food is probably Italian/pizza, but I'm willing to try almost anything at least once.
I love roller coasters and have a couple of books on the topic. I played "RollerCoaster Tycoon," at times religiously, as a kid.
